Introduction

Learn about the Liberal Party's values, history and direction, and how we serve Hong Kong and connect with the community.

The Liberal Party was founded in 1993 by a group of community leaders, drawn mainly from business and the professions and some already experienced in politics, who joined forces to contribute to Hong Kong's future. Our political vision is to build a caring society, to promote prosperity through a free market economy, and to protect the freedom and way of life of the Hong Kong people.

Since its founding, the Liberal Party has held fast to its ideals and beliefs, taking an active part in community and council affairs and working for the well-being of the public. Whether through government appointments or by standing in elections, we have always worked within the system, through councils at every level and other channels, and through a relationship with the Government that combines co-operation with checks and balances, always putting the overall interests of Hong Kong first as we put the Party's beliefs into practice.

Since Hong Kong's return to the motherland, we have worked actively and pragmatically to build a good relationship with the Central Government, maintaining close communication and regular dialogue with the central leadership. We firmly believe that, with the support of the Central Government and under the policy of “Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong” with a high degree of autonomy, Hong Kong will have even broader room to develop.

Looking ahead, the Liberal Party will continue, as always, to love our country with sincerity and Hong Kong with integrity, and to work tirelessly for a better Hong Kong.
